Barot Valley is a hidden gem tucked away in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh, India. Often referred to as a trekker's paradise, it sits at an altitude of roughly 1,830 meters (6,000 feet) and is carved out by the pristine, rushing waters of the Uhl River.
Tour Itinerary
- Day 1: Arrival & Lapas Waterfall Trek
Morning (10:00 AM): Arrive in Barot (via Joginder Nagar) and check into a riverside homestay or campsite.
Mid-Day (12:00 PM): After a quick lunch, begin the scenic 2-3 hour trek to Lapas Waterfall. The trail is moderate, passing through local villages and thick pine forests.
Late Afternoon (4:00 PM): Head back to the Uhl River. Spend some time relaxing by the water or trying trout fishing (permits required).
Evening (7:00 PM): Enjoy a hot dinner beside a riverside bonfire. Overnight stay in Barot
- Day 2: Exploration & Heritage Hike
Morning (8:00 AM): Have breakfast, then take a short heritage walk to the historic Shanan Hydel Project and the Barot Dam.
Mid-Morning (11:00 AM): Visit the Trout Fish Farm to see one of India’s oldest aquaculture projects.
Afternoon (1:00 PM): Grab a hot local lunch, explore the nearby traditional village settlements, and soak in the mountain views.Late Afternoon (3:00 PM): Check out and begin your return journey from Barot to Joginder Nagar or your onward destination
