The Kheerganga Trek is one of the most popular and scenic beginner-to-moderate treks in India, located at the end of the beautiful Parvati Valley in Himachal Pradesh. Sitting at an altitude of approximately 9,700 feet (2,956 meters), it is famous for its panoramic views of the Himalayas, dense pine forests, and its rewarding natural hot water springs at the summit.
Tour Itinerary
- Day 1: Barsheni to Kheerganga
The Journey: Take a local taxi or bus from Kasol to Barsheni (approx. 16 km), the last motorable road
The Trek: Start your trek by crossing the Parvati River bridge. You have three main routes to the summit
Via Nakthan Village (Most popular): Takes 4–5 hours, highly scenic and well-marked.
Via Kalga Village: A steeper, more secluded path through dense forests
Highlights: Pass the stunning Rudra Nag waterfall and several wooden bridges along the Parvati River.
Evening: Reach the Kheerganga summit (approx. 9,700 ft). Unwind in the rejuvenating natural hot water springs and enjoy a starry night under the Himalayas
Stay: Overnight camping in tents.
- Day 2: Kheerganga to Barsheni and Kasol
Morning: Wake up to panoramic sunrise views over the Himalayas.
Breakfast: Grab a hot breakfast at the campsite.
The Descent: Trek back down to Barsheni, which takes about 3–4 hours.
Departure: Take a local cab or bus back to Kasol. If you have extra time, consider visiting the Manikaran Gurudwara and its hot springs on your way back.
