The Rani Sui Lake Trek (also known as the Saurkundi Pass Trek) is a beautiful multi-day trek near Manali in Himachal Pradesh, India. It takes you through dense forests, expansive alpine meadows, and up to a serene, high-altitude mountain lake.

Tour Itinerary

Distance: 8 km

Time: 4 to 5 hours

Altitude: 9,900 feet (3,017 meters)

Highlights: The trek commences near the historic Hadimba Temple in Old Manali. You will face a steep uphill climb through dense forests of deodar, pine, and oak trees. Ensure you carry sufficient water, as the temple is the last reliable water source before the campsite. As you clear the tree line, you will cross a ridge into the lush alpine meadow of Lama Dugh. Camp here overnight under the stars

Time: 7 to 8 hours

Altitude: 12,600 feet (3,840 meters)

Highlights: This is your summit day. The trail scales a steep ridge toward Khanpari Tibba peak (4,025m), opening up panoramic views of Deo Tibba, Indrasan, and the Rohtang Pass. A short walk across open high-altitude meadows brings you to Rani Sui Lake (also known as Saurkundi Lake), a serene, heart-shaped mountain tarn. After enjoying the views, you will descend to camp at the peaceful meadow of Duddu Thatch (or Mahili Thach)

Time: 4 to 5 hours
Altitude: Descending back to 6,500 feet (2,050 meters)
Highlights: Wake up to the golden sunrise over the Kullu Valley. The route home consists of a continuous, sharp descent through dense pine forests and high pastures. The trail passes through small local settlements like Khaniyal or Shangchar village, where your transport will meet you for a short drive back to central Manali
