Beas Kund is a breathtaking, high-altitude alpine lake nestled in the Kullu Valley of Himachal Pradesh, India. Situated at an elevation of approximately 3,700 to 3,895 meters (12,139 to 12,778 feet), it holds immensely deep geographic, historical, and adventurous significance.
Tour Itinerary
- Day 1: Manali to Dhundi & Trek to Bakarthach (Base Camp)
Drive/Trek: Drive 14 km from Manali to Dhundi via Solang Nala (approx. 1 hour), then trek 4-5 km to the Bakarthach/Luhali campsite.
Time/Duration: 3 to 4 hours of trekking.
Altitude: 2,000 m (6,400 ft) to 3,300 m (10,826 ft).
Highlights: Pass through pine, walnut, and silver birch forests before reaching the alpine plateau with views of the Seven Sisters peaks and Deo Tibba
- Day 2: Bakarthach to Beas Kund & Back
Trek: An early start for a rewarding trek across boulders, rocky terrain, and seasonal snow patches.
Time/Duration: 7 to 8 hours (total round trip).
Altitude: 3,300 m (10,826 ft) to 3,895 m (12,772 ft) at Beas Kund, then back down.
Highlights: Reach the pristine glacial lake—the source of the Beas River—and enjoy sweeping views of Hanuman Tibba, Friendship Peak, and Shitidhar.
- Day 3: Bakarthach to Dhundi And Drive back to Manali
Rek/Drive: Trek back down from Bakarthach to Dhundi. From Dhundi, board a vehicle to drive back to the Manali bus stand.
Time/Duration: 2-3 hours of descending, followed by a 1-hour drive.
Altitude Loss: Back down to 2,800 m (9,300 ft).
