Tour Itinerary
- Day 1: Arrive at Base Village, Ascend to Kareri Lake
Morning (07:30 AM – 09:00 AM): Arrive early at Kareri Village from Dharamshala via local taxi (approx. 1.5 to 2 hours). Meet your trek leader or guide at the Kareri Village End Point for a quick briefing and to deposit any extra luggage.
Mid-Day (09:00 AM – 02:00 PM): Begin your 13 km ascent to the lake. The trail takes you through lush pine and rhododendron forests alongside the rushing Nyund River. You will cross wooden bridges and navigate stone-strewn paths. Stop at the halfway mark in Reoti village around noon to rest and eat a packed lunch.
Late Afternoon (03:30 PM – 05:00 PM): The final stretch becomes steeper and rockier. Arrive at the lakeside and check in to your pre-arranged tents at a campsite like Kareri Lake Camps.
Evening (05:00 PM onward): Unwind by exploring the lake’s edge, visit the lakeside ancient Shiva temple, and capture the sunset hitting the mountain ridge. Gather around a bonfire for dinner under a completely unpolluted, starlit sky.
- Day 2: Lakeside Sunrise, Descent to Base, Departure
Early Morning (06:00 AM – 08:30 AM): Wake up early to catch the crisp morning light illuminating the high-altitude glacial basin. Enjoy a hot, freshly made breakfast and morning tea at the campsite.
Morning Trek (08:30 AM – 01:30 PM): Pack your belongings and begin the downward 13 km trek back to Kareri Village. Gravity is on your side, making the descent faster, but watch your footing on the steep stone stairs and rocky patches.
Afternoon (01:30 PM – 03:30 PM): Arrive back at the base village trailhead. Collect any stored luggage, rest for a moment, and hire a cab back down to Dharamshala or McLeod Ganj for your onward journey.
